Green mango chutney, also known as raw mango chutney, is an Indian chutney prepared from unripe mangoes. Ripe mangoes are sweet and are not used for chutneys as they are eaten raw. I tried this South Indian style raw mango chutney recipe / Mangai chutney after watching "Arokiya samayal" program in Jaya tv. She made thinai idli and this chutney as a side dish for it.
Steps to make Raw mango chutney:
- In a pan take a tsp of oil. Add urrad dal+ Channa dal+cumin seeds+coriander seeds+methi seeds+red chilli+hing.Sauté for a awhile until it turns aromatic
- Now in a mixer jar add roasted gram + raw grated mango + step 1 ingredients and grind smooth without adding water.
- Now in a pan take a tsp oil + mustard seeds + urrad dal + curry leaves. Once it splutters transfer blended mixture from step 2. Add salt + jaggery + pinch turmeric and mix well. Serve this with idli/dosa/rice.
